Lesson Learned. What I Won't Be Doing This Year

Last August, I knew cooler weather was coming, but it was still hot outside, so ordering a cab enclosure was not on my list of things to do. I kept thinking I would get around to it later because in my mind, there were still plenty of warm weekends left.
Until a few weeks later, when I walked outside and saw my coffee steaming in the cold air. Uh-oh. There was frost on the ground, frost on my UTV, and after the ride out to the barn, what felt like frost in my hair. I had forgotten how much colder it feels once you start moving above 5 mph and the wind starts coming through the cab. So many regrets for 6 am on a Tuesday.

All summer long we were trying to get more air into the cab and then here fall shows up and we remember why we wanted doors, a windshield, and a back panel in the first place. A cool morning may feel nice while you are standing still sipping hot coffee, but it feels very different when you are riding into it.
To make matters worse, by the time I was ready to order an enclosure, so was everyone else.

Take this as your reminder that August is a good time to start thinking about your fall setup. You do not need to close your UTV up for the season yet, but you also do not have to wait until the first cold ride to place your order like I did.

I know fall weather can be hard to plan for because temperatures can change several times in one day. Having a modular cab makes those days much easier because you can open or close parts of the enclosure as the weather changes. You can roll the windows up when the afternoon gets warm, then close everything again when the temperature drops. You can choose the pieces that make sense for the way you ride, whether that means adding soft doors, a back panel, a windshield, a roof, or putting together a full cab enclosure.

At 3 Star UTV, they handcraft your enclosure using the options you select. Depending on the product, you may be able to choose features such as the material, color, window style, tint, vents, straps, or other details. Instead of receiving whatever version happens to be available, you get an enclosure built just for you.

This year, I am already set to go. These enclosures are built to last season after season. So, enjoy the last weekends of summer. Keep the windows open and let the breeze come through while it still feels good. Just remember that fall is closer than it seems, and the wind coming through that cab will not feel nearly as nice a few weeks from now.

Until next time, stay safe and enjoy the ride.
